Alton

Alton was our second, named for the famous, local Food Network star Alton Brown, for his large amount of brown on his back. Alton was the pentultimate puppy buddy, he never let anything get him down. At around age 7, he developed an autoimmune condition known as SARDS, in which the body’s own immune system attacks and destroys the retinas leading to permanent blindness. Throughout that transition and for the rest of his life, Alton was both an inspiration to us all about turning life’s lemons into lemonade and a real trooper. A mentor to our foster Jessie, Alton would reliably, at 6 o’clock every day, hop down from our bed, go collect Jessie (also blind) and lead her to dinner.
